API Q2 Vender and TMMDE Preparation

APIQ2 is becoming a popular and mandatory for some operators, standard to adopt and implement. It builds on ISO9001 with some specific requirements for auditors and companies to look for and cover in systems, Primarily around Vendor management and verification and TMMDE (Instruments used in process monitoring and equipment inspection/maintenance)

APIQ2 is trying to create a self monitoring / verification loop in the industry, everyone takes responsibility in monitoring suppliers and contractors, for instance the Drilling contractor will monitor and verify inspection companies, OEMs, Workshops, suppliers, etc through auditing and maintaining close validation of TMMDE, Scopes and completed work (all things we should be doing but sometimes fall by the way side)

There are a number of specific standards for instruments - please find an appendix document with the ones we know here, these standards including API standards list minimum requirements for instrument calibration and some (summarized in APIQ2) make up the requirements for certification contents - Which is to include the Test standard (the device used to calibrate) and the International standard with deviation allowances.

Tracking and verifying certificates, and providing evidence of the verification is almost impossible without a software, Heimdall was recently updated to include a Certificate validation process and checklist for verifiers.

APIQ2 Requirement:

Calibrations shall be in accordance with an international or national recognized standard; where no such standards exist, the basis used for calibration shall be recorded

The certificates shall include requirements for the specific equipment type that addresses: a) unique identifier; b) calibration status; c) traceability to international or national measurement standards; where no such standards exist, the basis used for calibration or verification shall be recorded; d) frequency of calibration, at specific intervals or prior to use; e) calibration, verification, or both methods, including adjustments and readjustments, as necessary.

g) acceptance criteria.
